Enjoy some of the worlds most gigantic rock formations done by nature, unique to this area. There are five major national parks near the town of Esperance. A major nearby tourist attraction, 20 minutes away from the town centre, is the Cape Le Grand National Park, which offers a picturesque coast of largely granite terrain and sheltered white-sand beaches. The park is a popular spot for recreational fishing, as well as four-wheel drive enthusiasts and hikers.
Day 1: Perth – Natural forests – Albany:
Depart Perth at 7 am and head south in air-conditioned comfort. Visit the Diamond Tree & If you feel adventurous, you can climb this giant lookout for stunning views of the forest. We make our way further south through the Karri forest to Bicentennial Tree. The Bicentennial Tree is one of the highest treetop lookouts in the world. After this depart for the Valley of the Giants and the Tree Top Walk – a canopy boardwalk 40 metres above the forest floor. Here we have the opportunity to take a walk through the canopy of the ancient Tingle forest. We then proceed to view the large granite formations known as Elephant Rocks and to take a dip in the clear waters of picturesque & serene Greens Pool. Night stay at Albany. (Dinner)
Day 2: Albany to Esperance:
A drive to the top of Mt Clarence, views of King George Sound, the outer islands and the Albany Township. View the rugged coastline of Natural Bridge & The Gap for great ocean views in Frenchman’s bay. Also, visit the Mt Romance Sandalwood Factory and an opportunity to sample wines at a local winery. We then commence our journey towards Esperance. Along the way, we drive through Stirling Ranges stopping at Bluff Knoll. Here experience the sites of the National Park and surrounding countryside. Late afternoon arrives at the jewel of the south, Esperance. Stay overnight at Esperance. (Breakfast & Dinner)
Day 3: Esperance:
Travel to the pristine Cape Le Grand National Park. You can swim, relax and frolic on the sunny sandy beaches of Lucky Bay. If lucky you may view Kangaroos on the beach OR Dolphins and Whales frolicking in the clear waters (in season). Start in the afternoon to journey along the Great Ocean Road stopping along the way at Twilight Cove and Blue Haven beaches, Windmill Farm, Pink Lake and take in the views of the Southern Ocean. Return back to Esperance for some free and easy time to shop, explore or relax before dinner. Night stay at Esperance. (Breakfast & Dinner).
Day 4: Esperance – Wave Rock – Perth:
We now head west through the wheat and sheep farming region of the Great Southern. Traveling on to Hyden, to marvel at the 2 million-year-old rock formation known as the Wave Rock and also the Hippo’s Yawn. On the way backstop for a visit at the Dog Cemetery and the historic town of York – the first settlement outside of Perth. (Breakfast)
